Keith Leroy Flower, 72, of Columbus, KS passed away Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Landmark Hospital in Joplin, MO.
He was born and raised in Winfield, KS to Keith Melvin and Barbara (Hada) Flower on May 10, 1948. Keith graduated from Winfield High School, Class of 1966.
Keith served in the United States Navy as a helicopter mechanic. After an Honorable Discharge, he returned to Winfield and was employed at Binney & Smith Crayola Co. He married Janet Kimmell on July 19, 1973 at the home of his parents. Later, he went to Barber School and co-owned and operated The Shear Point with his brother Clifford Flower. Later he operated a shop at his home. Upson retiring in 2016, he and his wife built a home at his favorite fishing spot in Columbus, KS. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He did a lot of wood carving, and loved being with his children and grandchildren. Keith was a member of the American Legion. In past years, he loved bowling, driving in demolition derbies, coaching youth baseball, and was a member of the Winfield Jaycees and the Winfield Bass Club.
Keith was preceded in death by his father and mother. Survivors include his wife Janet, of the home. Sons, Keith Aaron Flower and wife Amy of Winfield, Chris Kimmell and wife Rhonda of Belle Plaine. Three grandchildren, David Kimmell of Topeka, Mason Flower and wife Avery of Winfield, and Kinnley Flower of Winfield. Brother Clifford Flower and wife Sharon, Aunt Wanda Hada of Winfield, and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation arrangements are being handled through Derfelt Funeral Home of Columbus, with a private burial at a later date. Memorial services will be held at the Friendship Friends Church at 10709 NW Lawton Rd, Columbus, KS where he attended, on Friday, February 19, 2021 at 11:00 AM; and also at Winfield, Saturday, February 20, 2021, at 2:00 PM, at the First Church of the Nazarene at 201 E 19th.
