Patricia Ann McCormick

Patricia Ann McCormick, age 81, of Aurora, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2021, at her home. She was born February 28, 1939, to the late William Robert McCormick and Emma Catherine Osentowski in Grosse Pointe (Detroit), Michigan. She married her loving husband, the late George William McCormick on September 22, 1967. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughters, Deborah Ann Mathiasen and her husband, Niels, and Kathryn Gayle Forrester all of Aurora; 12 grandchildren, Brian McCormick, Leslie Thornton, Tyson Rockwell, Tommy Horner, Jordan Forrester, Jaxi Forrester, Robert Stecker, Ashley Stecker, Haley Stecker, Niels Mathiasen III, Dillon Mathiasen, and Sarah Mathiasen; 17 great- grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; one very special cousin who she took in as her own child, James Robert McCormick and his wife, Joyce of Crane, Missouri and a special friend, her son in-law’s sister, Linda Ann Meskimen who she loved as a daughter.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George, two sons, Robert Roy Rockwell and Richard Paul McCormick, and one great-granddaughter, Reece Michelle Thornton.

Patricia’s parents moved the family to Dove Creek, Colorado, when she was an infant. They then moved to Moab, Utah, during her high school years. After graduating high school, she earned her degree in geology from the University in Mexico City, Mexico. As a young adult, Patricia worked in the mining industry in Utah, and then in the family grocery/ hardware/ shoe store as well as in banking before she met her husband George. In 1972 they moved their family from Utah to Missouri where they started ranching. They bought a feed and farm supply store and started a property rental business as well.

Patricia enjoyed many hobbies, including being a master bowler, master bridge player and avid genealogist, contributing many articles to the Polish Genealogical Society newsletter. In her later years, the family enjoyed many games of Skip-Bo with her, often being talked into “just one more game”.

Patricia was heavily active in the Eastern Star and the Lions Club where she proudly served as District Governor. She was also a member of the local DAR Chapter.

Patricia has touched the lives of many people and has many friends around the world. She will be truly missed.

A funeral service, under the direction of the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2021, at the United Methodist Church in Aurora, with burial to follow at the Maple Park Cemetery in Aurora. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 19, 2021, in the funeral home chapel.
