John Boehning

On Saturday, February 13, 2021, John Boehning, loving father, inventor, and entrepreneur, passed away at the age of 81. John was born on November 12, 1939 in Seneca, MO to William and Lila (Hitt) Boehning. John served in the U.S. Air Force from 1959 to 1973 and worked on rocketry technology which was used in the Apollo missions to the Moon. He received a National Defense Service Metal for his work. On January 11, 1961, he married Ruth Ellene Short. They raised two sons, Craig and Rob, and daughter Julie.

John had a passion for aviation throughout his life and a love of adventure. He combined these two passions to go skydiving at the age of 80 in Oklahoma. His love of travel led him on trips across the United States and around the globe. He also had a beautiful singing voice and recorded many wonderful covers of some of his favorite artists ranging from gospel to the Bee Gees to Journey. Everyone who met him agreed he was one of the wisest men they knew.

John is survived by his son Craig Rochelle Boehning, daughter Julie Lynn (Boehning) Wilson, son-in-law Robert Lee Wilson four grandchildren: Christopher Boehning, Emmalee Wilson, Sarah Wilson, and Zachariah Wilson, four great -grandchildren, sister Julia Mae Manca Di Villahermosa, brother Rochelle Lloyd Boehning and his wife Joyce, along with cousins, nephews, and nieces. John was preceded in death by his mother and father, wife Ruth, son Rob Christopher Boehning, and sister Jane Archer Medders.

Memorial contributions may be made to Fair Haven Children’s home in Strafford Missouri. A memorial celebration of John’s life will take place in Seneca Missouri in Summer of 2021. John’s ashes will be buried at Seneca Cemetery in Seneca, Missouri beside his parents William and Lila, beloved wife Ruth and son Rob, in a private family ceremony.
