On June 23, 2015 the Joplin Police Department initiated an investigation regarding the potential embezzlement of money from the Hampshire Landing apartment complex at 2001 S. Hampshire Terrace in Joplin. Their corporate office expressed concerns that the former property manager, Shelly E. Scofield, had misappropriated payments from tenants and tenant applicants.
