The deadline to sign up a team for the Marion L. Cox Memorial Softball Tournament, which benefits fire safety students who attend the Carl Junction Fire Training Academy, is 5 p.m. Monday. The tournament is named for Marion Cox, who was a member of the Carl Junction and Joplin fire departments, as well as the METS ambulance service. He lost his life in a kayak accident in 2008.
