Tax hike for roads rolling toward Missouri voters; three-quarter-cent increase in sales tax on Aug. 5 ballot

Just about every morning, local photographer Mark Neuenschwander stops by a coffee shop to grab a cup. On Monday, he chose Joplin Avenue Coffee downtown. He ordered a medium coffee, priced at $1.80, and paid $1.95 when sales taxes were added in. If Neuenschwander — the owner of 9art Photography — ordered that same cup of coffee on all 250 business days of the year, he would spend about $37.50 on sales taxes.
