State office decides to audit Joplin School District

About a week after petitions began circulating to try to force an audit of the Joplin School District, the Missouri state auditor’s office has announced plans to begin its own audit of the school district within two weeks.
The announcement Monday by Auditor Tom Schweich doesn’t include an audit of the city of Joplin, which remains the focus of two separate and active petition drives by local residents.
