Local teen completes two weeks on Mississippi River

Two weeks after beginning a summer-long canoe journey down the Mississippi River, Webb City High School graduate James Welborn has traveled more than 160 miles and has seen a lot of wildlife — bald eagles, beavers and otters. But soon after launching his canoe into the headwaters of the Mississippi River at Lake Itasca in Minnesota, he discovered something else that river life has to offer: mosquitoes.
