President Barack Obama will seek to keep 9,800 U.S. troops in Afghanistan after the war formally ends later this year and then will withdraw most of those forces by the end of 2016, senior administration officials said Tuesday.

Over the weekend, the White House accidentally leaked the name of the CIA’s “chief of station” in Afghanistan. A press release containing the names of people who would be at a military briefing with President Barack Obama during his visit to Afghanistan listed the name of the CIA official. Joplin board to consider school-based health center
A proposal for a health center based at Joplin High School has resurfaced. The Board of Education tonight will consider a proposal between the school district and a collaboration of Access Family Care, Freeman Health System, Ozark Center and Preferred Family Healthcare Inc. to maintain a health center at the new high school to provide a variety of health services to students on site.
Veterans honored at Memorial Day services in area
Thanks to a last-minute change of venue prompted by uncooperative weather, the annual Memorial Day program in Pittsburg went on. The service on Monday was moved indoors from the Veterans Memorial Amphitheater to the training center for the Kansas Army National Guard after a torrential rainstorm nearly caused the event to be canceled.
