Local officers run torch for Special Olympics

Six Joplin police officers ran a torch through the city Thursday morning as they participated in a statewide effort to raise awareness for Special Olympics Missouri and the 2014 State Summer Games. More than 1,600 runners from 187 agencies across the state have participated in the 28th annual Torch Run, which began May 15 and comes to an end today. The runners will have completed 42 routes and covered more than 1,000 miles across the state.
