1717 Marketplace developer facing federal indictment; attorney says Joplin TIF funds not in jeopardy

A Joplin shopping and restaurant district, 1717 Marketplace, is up for auction because it is part of a bankruptcy involving the developer who also has been accused, in a federal indictment, of defrauding the bankruptcy court and others. Richard Thomas Gregg, 55, of Nixa, is named in a 17-count indictment alleging bank fraud involving other commercial properties he owned in Springfield, money laundering by financing assets and selling them without paying off the loans, wire fraud involving two area casinos, and the bankruptcy fraud.
